The Devil’s Duathlon is Launched

The organisers of the Reading Triathlon 2010 have announced an exciting new Duathlon event, designed to provide Triathletes with some quality Autumn race action. The Devil’s Duathlon, based near Reading, comprises a 10km Trail/Road Run, a 41km Road Bike leg, and a 5km Trail Run.

The race takes its fearsome name from the ancient “Devil’s Highway” Roman road, built two thousand years ago as a key Roman transport link between London and the town of Calleva. The road is now being put to good use again as the run course for this challenging Duathlon.

After the first run, athletes will benefit from a covered Transition Area at Butlers Lands Farm (the event base) before heading out on a two lap bike course. The course is largely flat, fast and very scenic as athletes pass through the villages of Mortimer, Silchester and the ancient Roman town of Calleva. The Final run, an out and back along the Devil’s Highway, will finish back at the farm.

The race will take place on 9 October 2011 with the winners being crowned Devil’s Duathlon Devil Slayer 2011!
Places are limited to 150; for information and registration details go to https://regonline.activeeurope.com/the_devils_duathlon
